SWPPP & Erosion Control in Utah
We write your SWPPP, then install and maintain the stormwater BMPs on it — silt fence, wattles, inlet protection and more — and keep track-out off the street.

SWPPP Plans
We Write Your SWPPP
Our licensed SWPPP writers write the plan for your site and stamp it. Then our own crews can install the BMPs it calls for, so the plan and the work on the ground match.
- Licensed and stamped
- Written for your site
- Kept current
- Installed by the same team

Who Needs One
Who Needs a SWPPP in Utah
Construction storm water in Utah is covered by a UPDES permit from the Division of Water Quality at the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The plan comes first, and the plan is what tells us what to install.
An acre or more
Utah DEQ requires construction storm water permit coverage when you disturb an acre or more of soil by clearing, grading or excavating.
Part of a bigger plan
A site under an acre still needs coverage if it is part of a common plan of development or sale. DEQ has a separate Common Plan Permit for small residential projects disturbing less than an acre.
A plan before the permit
DEQ’s first step is a site-specific SWPPP: identify the possible sources of storm water pollutants on your site, then select the best management practices (BMPs) that control them. Those BMPs are what we install.

Filing the NOI, inspections, renewal and the NOTThrough the Job
From the First Fence Post to the Final Cleanup
What our crews put in at each stage of a build, and the permit rule each stage helps you meet.
Stage 1
Setting up the site
- Limit-of-disturbance fence
- Silt fence
- Inlet protection
Your SWPPP names these controls; we set them to the approved plan.
Stage 2
While you build
- Straw wattles
- Erosion control blankets
- Street sweeping
- Concrete waste removal
- Field mowing and trimming
Permit inspections look at every stormwater control and at sediment tracked out onto paved roads.
Stage 3
When the job wraps
- Hydroseeding
- Site cleanup
Before a Notice of Termination, the permit requires removing construction waste and any temporary stormwater controls that are not meant to stay or biodegrade.

Questions
SWPPP Questions
What is a SWPPP?
A Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan — the site plan that spells out which best management practices (BMPs) keep sediment and construction waste out of storm drains. We write SWPPPs, and we install and maintain the BMPs on them.
Do you write SWPPPs?
Yes. Our licensed SWPPP writers write and stamp site-specific plans for Utah construction sites, and our crews can install the BMPs they call for.
Which BMPs do you install?
Silt fence, straw wattles, inlet protection, erosion control blankets, limit-of-disturbance fence and hydroseeding, plus street sweeping, concrete washouts, field mowing and site cleanup.
Can you handle SWPPP work and dumpsters on the same site?
Yes. SWPPP Services Utah and Dirty Devil work the same job sites: call 801-455-5605 for SWPPP plans and BMP crews, and 801-509-2229 for dumpsters and porta potties.
